Im letzten halben Jahr die Konferenz der Fachbereiche Physik (KFP) und die Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) haben gemeinsam mit der ZaPF (Zusammenkunft aller Physik Fachschaften; da sind wir auch dabei ;)) eine Umfrage zum Physik-Lehramtsstudium entwickelt. Diese Umfrage richtet sich an alle Studierende des Lehramts Physik (also nicht nur Gymnasiallehramt) und hat zum Ziel, zu evaluieren wie das Lehramsstudium an den verschiedenen Universitäten aufgebaut ist und wie zufrieden die Studierenden damit sind. Damit soll sie die Basis dafür bieten, Verbesserungen am Lehramtsstudium anzustoßen.

Das Werkstudenten-Team beim Fraunhofer Geschäftsbereich Vision sucht ab sofort Unterstützung im IT-Bereich für die Web-Entwicklung und Serverbetreuung.
Zusätzlich startet ab April 2021 das Mentoring-Programm josephine® des Fraunhofer IIS in die dritte Runde – diesmal virtuell. Es richtet sich an Studentinnen, die ab dem 3. Bachelorsemester oder im Masterstudium MINT-Fächer (E-Technik, Physik, Informatik, Mathematik o.ä.) studieren. Eine erfahrene Wissenschaftlerin (Mentorin) vom Fraunhofer IIS und eine Mentee treffen sich in regelmäßigen Abständen (persönlich oder virtuell) mit dem Ziel, die persönliche und berufliche Entwicklung der Mentees zu fördern, zu unterstützen und zu begleiten. Dabei steht im Vordergrund, gemeinsam mit der Mentorin die individuellen Möglichkeiten und Potenziale für die berufliche Orientierung zu erkennen. Kompetenzen der Mentees werden durch ein Rahmenprogramm des Fraunhofer IIS systematisch gefördert und aufgebaut.

You might still remember the day you arrived at FAU. A few things were probably quite confusing and getting along in your everyday life may not have been as smooth as it was supposed to be during your first days here in Germany. Not to mention the hassle with university and city administration.
Maybe there was a buddy to help, maybe you were all on your own.
In any case, we are currently searching for new buddies who help to welcome international newcomers to FAU. Buddies introduce our new students to the city, assist with minor challenges they face when arriving here (where to buy a bicycle, where to find a sim card,…) and help them to socialize in the new environment.

Petition an den bayerischen Minister für Wissenschaft und Kunst Bernd Sibler für eine Prüfungs-Freiversuchsregelung in der kommenden Prüfungsphase.
Wie ihr sicher mitbekommen habt, hat sich die Studiensituation mit Corona seit August nicht unbedingt verbessert. Für die kommende Prüfungsphase sollen allerdings einige der Erleichterungen, die im Sommer noch vielen geholfen haben, wegfallen: Zwar darf man noch bis Klausurbeginn zurücktreten, aber sobald man sich entscheidet, mitzuschreiben, riskiert man einen der kostbaren drei Prüfungsversuche. Die Stuve, zahlreiche Fachschaften der anderen bayerischen Unis und wir sind der Meinung, dass diese Regelung denjenigen, die sich an die Prüfung wagen, Nachteile bietet und fordern daher, wieder eine Freiversuchsregelung ähnlich zu der im Sommer einzuführen.

Tl;dr: Petition against problematic new Higher Education Law.
The Bavarian Higher Education Law is being amended. The direction of this reform is against democratic structures, against small subjects and for an „entrepreneurial“ and economically more active university. The key points paper shows that the legal basis for our universities is to be kept minimal, so that democratic minimum standards, participation of all and control mechanisms by status groups can simply be abolished.
Are good teaching, internships, seminars, etc. important to you? The key points paper does not include a budget for funds to improve teaching, as it is also co-administered by student representatives in its current form. This is currently used to finance many tutorials, internships and longer library opening hours, among other things.
In this petition, the Stuve opposes the demise of small subjects, demands democratic participation for all status groups at all decision-making levels, a sustainable university and opposes the elimination of study grants.
We students are the largest status group at universities, so our interests must not be forgotten in this law and we should therefore also publicly stand up for our interests. Do you find yourself in these demands? Then sign the petition and spread the word.
