Dear new master students in winter term 21/22,

a warm welcome from the FSI Mathe/Physik/DS! We are a group of students that want to simplify the everyday life at university for other students. This includes several regular events, for instance boardgame nighs, lecture hall cinemas and more, as well as an open ear for problems of any kind, weekly meetings and consultation hours for you.

Due to the corona pandemic we only have very limited possibilities at the moment. As it is therefore probably more difficult to make new contacts with other students (especially if you’ve just started studying at FAU with your master), we want to give you the opportunity to set a first foot into your new city and get in touch with your fellow students. For this, we have prepared the following for you:

 

City rally

The city rally is a tour through Erlangen with much information on city, university and its histories, some interesting questions and also nice riddles to keep you entertained on your way through the city. We recommend you to make the rally in groups of 3-5 students and take one entire afternoon of time for it. You can find the material and more information here. You could do the rally for example on Saturday, 16th of October and meet afterwards in a pub to socialise a bit more.
Hiking tour

We offer you a hiking tour to the Franconian Swiss (close to Erlangen) on Saturday, 23th of October. We meet in front of the main train station (Hauptbahnhof Erlangen) at 9:00am and then take the train. Be sure not to forget your student ticket, something to drink, good shoes, a mask for train/restaurant. You also have to obey the 3G rule (tested, vaccinated or recovered).
